5You want this saucepan  Apr 22, 2007
By Picky, picky, picky...
My father bought this for my mother but, she didn't like it so, he gave it to me. The reason she didn't like it was because it was heavy. That's just one of the things I love about it! This is a high-quality stainless saucepan with a wonderful self-straining lid with small strainer holes on one side and larger holes on the other so, it's useful for a variety of cooking assignments. The pan also has pouring spouts on each side so it works right or left handed. This is the most used piece of cookware in my kitchen (from brewing tea to boiling potatoes) and I expect to be using it years from now. No non-stick coating so you can really scrub it clean or stick it in the dishwasher with no worries. Lid is glass with stainless straining ring around the bottom edge and it is also dishwasher safe.

5Good value for the size  Jul 01, 2008
By Kathlyn Storey "Kathlyn A Storey"
To get a 3 quart pan with these features for $24.99, unless Amazon drops the price on this one again, is just about as good as you can do. Here is what you get:
(1) Glass lid with two sizes of strainers for pouring off liquid;
(2) Lifetime warranty from manufacturer;
(3) Dishwasher safe;
(4) Substantial weight (but not overly so);
(5) Even heat distribution;
(6) Super saver shipping over $25.
These are the features that I was looking for, and as other reviewers have noted, the design and quality of this pan compare favorably with other more expensive brands such as Cuisinart, KitchenAid, Oneida, and Calphalon. Currently I have a mixed combination of pans in these brands because I care much less whether they are all by the same manufacturer rather than having just exactly the type of pans I want for cooking without paying an arm and a leg for them.

September 12, 2011 update: I flat out love this pan. It's used every week and goes in the dishwasher afterward; it still looks almost brand new.

4Thin handle gets hot  Jan 12, 2009
By xt "kq1111"
My criteria for cook wear is that they are 18/10 stainless steel, multi-ply (all-around, if possible). One reviewer complained that the pan is too heavy - but that is exactly what I was looking for --- more mass = even heating and better heat retention in the body of the pan

Having a strainer cap is a plus.

Reason for 4* is that the handle is formed from THIN stamped steel and rolled into a wide handle. The lack of mass means lower heat capacity and thus the Handle HEATS up much more quickly. For example, heating up half-a-pan's worth of water to a boil is enough to make handle uncomfortable to hold.

edit: just last week i walked through a Safeway and saw it for 26$. I bought it at Amazon for 34$. Currently (1/20) it is priced at 37$. Yikes! check your local stores.

5Great pot!  Jan 07, 2008
By Ignatius Reilly
I originally purchased this to cook pasta in because of the convenient lid with holes for easy draining. Now I find myself using it for just about everything I heat on the stove. It's the perfect size for most sauces and soups. Plus, it's heavy and seems very durable. I would recommend this pot and will probably look for others with the same brand.

5Best Set In Over 30 Years!  Dec 07, 2007
By T. Martens
I've had them all in the last 35 years. This is the best set of pans I ever had. They clean very easy. I've had them for 2 years and they still look new. You can strain whatever you're cooking effortlessly. You can check the food without taking the lid off. The extra thick bottom helps heat the food evenly. I will never buy another set of pans! (I loved them so much I bought my Mom a set. She loves them, too!)
