3not the hand hammered wok of my dreams.......  Jun 25, 2011
By Saluki "saluki"
I bought this wok in anticipation of buying an induction burner. I was going to buy a flat bottomed hand hammered pow from the wok shop but they were out of stock so I ordered this instead on Amazon..... Looks like a stamped wok someone put a few hammer marks in and its also rather thin carbon steel which I don't necessarily view as a problem. No problem with seasoning it.

The reason for the three stars is that the bottom is badly warped and if I were to use it on an induction burner it would barely touch the bottom....... No complaints about the wood handle which in my case is very secure.

I would have considered the light flat bottom cast iron wok from the Wokshop but Grace Young (Stir-frying to the Sky's Edge) mentioned that the food stuck when she had tried it.

Another choice would have been the Helen or Joyce Chen flat bottom carbon steel woks which would have also had a helper handle and a domed lid but are much thicker spun carbon steel and I assume much less susceptible to warping (I also thought a lid would be easy to obtain locally in any Asian market but, that has not been the case.....)

4Great wok  Apr 10, 2010
By Brian D. Metz "metzb1"
This is a nice sized, hand hammered wok. I use it on a turkey fryer and it works very well. The flat bottom is essential, as you can set it down if needed to do other things. My only complaint is that the wooden handle is held in with one pin and it was cracked through when I received it. It is loose and I will need to fix it myself at some point. Other than that, very nice.
