So far works fine. Jan 26, 2011
By Eric I purchased this on my brother's advise, rather than other reviews, because he owns one too. I figured for the price, it would be worth the risk. So far, it works fine. I haven't had any sticking issues or flaking off of coating yet. I was sure to season the iron properly with crisco before I used it, so maybe this helps. The only trick I use when cooking is I pour the batter into the top half of the iron, close it and wait about 5 seconds, and then flip the machine over the correct way for the rest of the cooking time of about 3 mins. The waffles always come out great. Without flipping, they dont seem to rise that much but it could be the batter I used. I also use more batter than the recipe calls for. I pour enough to just cover the whole cooking area before I close it. There are 5 in our family and this iron is a good size. It cooks 4 waffles in about 3 mins. I also like the way it stores up on end for more counter space. So if you don't mind flipping the machine over when cooking, I think it works great!

If you can only afford a cheap belgian waffle ... Dec 30, 2010

I was given this waffle iron as a gift because I make waffles several times a week for my large family. Appearance wise this is a cute looking waffle iron. The shape actually resembles a Hello Kitty's head. I'm tempted to draw in eyes and a bow every time I use it. This was a replacement for a wonderful iron that only made one at at time and was losing the non-stick surface. This makes pretty good waffles but you kind of have to make up your own directions because if you follow the directions as written you will have batter all over the counter. First, I only use plastic utensils with this and all other non-stick surfaces. I heat up the waffle iron. I do not using cooking spray I use a bit of cooking oil rubbed on the surface with a paper towel. I find I don't have to re-coat after every waffle. I do not wait for the green light because when I do I get a waffle that is too well done. I ball park it and I usually get a good result. The times I've had a disaster has been the times I have not let it heat or if something was off with my batter. If you want to make belgian waffles but you can't afford a pricier model at this time this will tide you over. I think I've had mine for two years and it still works fine. Of course, when I replace it I will be looking for something with accurate temperature controls, deeper wells and sturdier build. I dropped my last waffle iron a couple of times and it kept working. I don't think I could drop this one and have it still work.

Makes an OK waffle, but you'll be eating it's non-stick coating Dec 08, 2010

I've used this maker a couple dozen times, and I just now noticed that large portions of the non-stick coating have peeled off. Where did it go? Into my belly. It didn't register to me until recently, that the black flecks on the waffles was the coating that's peeling off the unit. I had just thought it was some burnt edge of batter. Yikes! All the reviews for the Calphalon look great, so I'll be buying that one, however, I *do* like the smaller thin waffle size this unit makes, but I would not recommend it because of the obvious problem with the coating.

RIP Waffle Iron. You were decent while you lasted...which was not long. May 20, 2011
By katie I owned this waffle iron about 3 years ago. While it worked, it made delicious, well cooked waffles. That only lasted about 5 months before it just died. All the lights functioned but it would not get hot. I never had issues with anything sticking though. It did seem to leak excess batter out of the back all over the cord. If it's going to leak, I'd rather it leak from the sides! It was not worth the money.

Waffle greatness May 24, 2011
By jeepwithus3 Our family is big on waffles and the waffle iron that I had for years crashed. I tried several other brands and had returned them all as the outside of the other brands got hot and would burn your hands. I had a 2-section Toastmaster in my RV. So when I looked online to find one of them I was lucky enought to find this larger 4-section. This was wonderful as our family had grown from a family of 4 to add in-laws and grandkids.
