1Looks Good But Is Awful Junk  Jul 21, 2006
By Joypebble
What a failure!

Seemed just right for a simple way to make a quick single brewed cup of coffee. Small, low profile and uses little space on the counter. The science is so simple and established that I figured there could be no problems.

Wrong, it cannot deliver more than 6 ounces of water through the system, even though the water well holds 12 ounces. If you drink more than six ounces (smaller than a juice glass) of coffee, this is not the unit for you.

The well is filled with 12 ounces and the machine starts to brew. Good. Then, about half way through the process (VERY slow) it simply stops. I used my own 12oz mug which fits well but the pot seems pooped and just keeps on heating the water without delivering it through the plumbing. I have "plunged" the small water hole in the bottom if the well with no results.

I've tried it five times, wasting coffee and time and it simply doesn't want to work.

I'm planning to use it for a planter. Small cut wildflowers will look nice. For coffee, I'm going to a real working product.

It doesn't pay to return this item because the time and postage will make it too expensive.

This is junk, pure and simple.

5still using it 4 years later  Mar 25, 2009

This is a simple and cheap product that works. It does not turn off automatically, and I always worry I'lll leave it on and burn it out or burn the house down, but I haven't. I have left it on overnight... oops... but it survived! It doesn't need paper filters, just rinse out the filter supplied. Definitely a thumbs up for this product.

4Sometimes you just want one cup.....  Sep 03, 2005
By Kat Williams
This one cup coffee maker is nice if you just want one cup of coffee. You must adjust the coffee to your particular taste. It includes a mug and a washable filter. It also includes a measuring spoon. It fits most mugs.

3It worked fine for a few months...  Feb 02, 2008

I got my Toastess at Tuesday Morning for about $10. It's a nice, temporary little coffeemaker except that it's missing a heating plate to keep the mug warm; if you don't get to your coffee immediately, be prepared to reheat it in the microwave. Always add the water first, then the coffee; if done in reverse, the water spout puffs out air and blows the coffee grounds all over the place. Also, after filling the water reservoir, about a tablespoon of water leaks into your mug before you even start brewing. The disc under the mug is removable, so the machine accomodates larger-sized mugs. The permanent filter is a great feature and its saving grace. *UPDATE*: After several months, my coffee started to taste funny, like it had disinfectant in it or something--a strange, chemical taste. I made another cup using my usual coffee and filtered water--still that funky taste! Then I made another using an old standby machine, and the coffee tasted fine. I concluded it was the Toastess and tossed it. 2 stars.

4Toastees 1 Cup Coffeemaker  Apr 26, 2010
By Ann R. Cooper "Annie C."
I purchased this for my dad. He loves it. It is very easy to use and he can make his one cup of coffee in the morning. I love how it comes complete with it's own mug and reusable filter. No need for paper filters. I recommend this product for ease of use and quality.
