Current Nepalese cooking possible with American ingrediants. Nov 03, 1999
I like this book especially for the straight-forward simplicity of the recipes and, especially, for the great tasting food.It is good for both vegetarians and omnivores! Several cooks contributed so the cook gets a variety of styles, probably from different parts of the american Nepalese society.

Yum! May 29, 2003
By Jill I actually bought this book in Nepal after serving for 2 yrs there as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I knew I'd get a hankering for some home cooked Nepali specialties once I got home. I haven't made the majority of the recipes in it, but it was certainly worth the cost of the book for the ones I have made, especially the spicy fried pork cubes which I make quite often. Kasto meetho lagyo!

Authentic Nepali Cooking Nov 08, 1999
My Nepali friend says the book does good representation of Nepali cooking although there were a few recipes she couldn't recognize. There are traditional Nepali dishes along with Indian and British-influenced ones (e.g. chop). This is not for people who care about pretty pictures, but for people like me who would rather have MORE RECIPES.

Authentic, yet accessible. Mar 01, 2007
By SonzAMonz I bought this book while I was in Nepal, knowing that I would miss the food when I come back to the States. It seems that the recipes are for the most part pretty authentic, similar to dished that I had in Nepal (momo's, various dal dishes, various veggie curries, roti). The ingredients are usually available in Indian grocery stores here, and
if an ingredient is hard to find, the book provides alternatives.
Like other reviewers have noted, this book doesn't have pretty pictures or beautiful cover. So, if you are looking for eye-candy, I don't recommend it. But if you are looking for good, accessible recipes on a rarely-written-about-in-the-English-language cuisine, I recommend this little cookbook!

Love this book! Dec 11, 2007
By Food Fan This book was a must after travelling in the Himalayas - makes it very easy to make Nepal's classic dishes.
