Not my type of help! Oct 08, 2009
By Signe A. Popma

I love to watch the show!!! It is so inspiring watching those individuals overcome their personal issues. So many times I have been moved to tears with their stories. With that said, I will move on to my review of this book.
I first saw this book on one of the daily talk shows. I immediately went to my computer and Amazon. While I was looking at this book, I saw "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought: Eat This Not That!" I placed both items in my cart and purchased them both.
As inspiring as the TV show is, the book falls flat! I was actually expecting more of a "food choice swap" rather than an action type of swap. Example: Don't eat in bed at night. Instead do needlepoint. Or, make a phone call instead of a snack. I do know that it is those very choices that gets us into trouble in the first place, but I think that we already know that we just need to eat right and exercise! But what is "right???" I was hoping to find information like that pictured on the front cover: instead of a muffin, eat an English muffin. Or, instead of a glass of orange juice, eat an orange! But that is not what I found inside this book.
I DID however, find that exact information in the second book that I bought: "Eat This Not That! Supermarket Survival Guide." Talk about your ultimate food swap book!! <---- Now THAT's what I'm talking about!
I am on my way to do my Curves workout where I will offer to sell my copy of "The Biggest Loser Simple Swaps: 100 Easy Changes to Start Living a Healthier Lifestyle."
While I am sure that some people will find this book to be exactly what they need to inspire them to make better life choices for themselves, this was not the book to do that for me. If what you are looking for is something to tell you that you should not eat so much and that you should find other things to do with your time, then this is the book for you!

A lifestyle change Oct 08, 2009

This book covers all the bases--from food swaps to the all-important lifestyle swaps. We all know the contestants figure out on the ranch that making changes from within is a key to weight loss and this book addresses the big picture. Plus the recipes are delicious! I've already made the Veggie Lasagna and the Greek Pasta and my family adored it! Had people over for dinner when I made the Greek pasta and was hoping to have some leftover for the next day--but no!
I felt in really good hands knowing these insights and advice come from a trained nutritionist, Forberg, who works behind-the-scenes with the contestants and does a comprehensive food evaluation of each one and monitors their food logs. I really enjoyed hearing about her insights from having worked with 8 seasons of contestants.
You can learn from this book, from Forberg and the trainers and all the past contestants who contribute and who have been at the battefront on the war against obesity. This is a must-buy. It goes beyond the superficial lists you find out there.

You could buy any of the BL books and you'd get the same info... Jan 06, 2010
By C. Dull I purchased 4 of the Biggest Loser Books - you could buy just one and get all the same information. Most everything is repeated in each book. This, however, I thought was the most boring book of all I purchased.

Everyone Will Learn Something from This Book! Oct 08, 2009

Great recipes, first of all. The first recipe I followed was the huevos rancheros!
Second, it's a pretentious-free zone for healthy eating tips. You get the basics about vitamins, antioxidants, and other important nutrients. Plus, you get the facts about foods you may have heard of, but don't honestly know what they are (like jicama, in my case).
Third, they are simple and SMART swaps. Switch mayo for avocado or bacon for Canadian bacon. Smart.
This is a really accessible book and there are a wealth of tips to take away--even if you think you know it all already.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RUHGY3TMPEBT1 I really enjoyed the book.
It's the "simple" things that make a
BIG Difference.
I made the Veggie Lasagna and it was VERY Delicious!
I can wait to try more of the recipes.
The previous Biggest Loser contestants included their simple swaps,
and they aren't all food related which were nice.
I hope you enjoy my video review.
I do wish they would have included more recipes :).
