Sushi in a snap. Apr 22, 2007
By R. G. Williamson
"Nostalgicon 67"
I bought this kit because my wife and I are addicted to Sushi, but the cost was killing us. To aleaviate the financial strain we decided to learn to make Sushi ourselves. This kit has it all; An easy to read how to booklet, bamboo rolling mat, dipping dishes, rice molds for sashimi and four sets of reusable chop sticks. All of this together in a very nice storage box package. As for solving our sushi desire it has. Although making sushi is a time consuming ordeal at first, once you get the hang of it you will want to throw sushi parties for all your friends. The hardest part of making sushi would be perfecting the sticky rice and locating all the ingredients at your local supermarket, but as far as cost goes you will spend a fraction of what it costs to purchase ready made sushi in a resteraunt or market.

Amazing Value Feb 15, 2007

I purchased the Sushi Deluxe Book & Kit as a gift and ended up keeping it for myself. The book is small but informative which is why I rated it a 4 instead of 5. The really amazing value is the kit. The chopsticks and accompanying dishes are very good quality. It also comes with a bamboo mat for making sushi rolls. Based upon quality and price I would recommend this item to anyone who is a novice at sushi making.

Sushi Deluxe Book and Kit Sep 22, 2008

"The Book Review"
This kit comes with the 80-page book Sushi Made Easy by Kumfoo Wong, a 9" x 10" bamboo rolling mat, four sets of black and gold plastic chopsticks, four painted ceramic chopstick rests, a plastic 5-piece rice mold, and two decorated ceramic dishes for dipping sauces.
The box in which all this comes is sturdy and decorative, and is designed to store everything. The top of the box lifts off, and a hinged door on the side of the box opens, revealing several drawers, which hold everything.
The book that comes with this kit, Sushi Made Easy, by Kumfoo Wong, is an introductory guide to preparing and presenting sushi. The book is targeted to beginners, and at only 80 pages, is completely manageable. Sushi Made Easy provides an introduction to the more prominent sushi ingredients and kitchen utensils and equipment needed, as well as advice on selecting suitable fish to be used raw. There is a great deal of emphasis here on appearance and presentation. Sushi Made Easy covers nigiri-sushi, sushi rolls, hand rolls, rolled sweet omelet, and soups. The book is fully-illustrated, and features step-by-step instructions for making each recipe.
Making sushi with this set was a fairly simple, intuitive process. The bamboo rolling mat, which is the primary reason we bought the kit, is big enough, and it gets the job done. Everything included appears to be of good quality.
The Sushi Deluxe Book and Kit are an excellent, inexpensive introduction for anyone who wants to make sushi at home. This set also makes an excellent gift.

At least it was low cost. Apr 29, 2008
By maggie The box this kit arrives in is beautiful. The only problem was I had to pry the drawers open with a screw driver as they were jammed shut, and this wasn't easy. The good - The sushi making book has good information. The rectangle mold for molding sushi works great. The okay - The chopsticks, holders, and dishes are all usable. The bad - The bamboo roller was totally covered in mold and had to be thrown out. I purchased a silicone sushi roller at our local kitchen store which is fantastic! It works much better than bamboo, and washes and dries beautifully. Overall, this kit was low cost, so I didn't ask for my money back.

Everything you need to get started Jan 09, 2007
By Bella Americana This kit includes the bamboo rolling mat, chopsticks (and chopstick rests), bowls for dipping and a rice mold in addition to the book. It comes in a deluxe box with drawers to store your tools. The book fairly clear, although I had trouble figuring out how to roll with the mat.
I was very happy with this kit, especially the price!
