I wouldn't recommend Jun 18, 2010
By Kuropon The seeds are small and aroma isn't that great even after I roasted. Bunch fennel seed were mixted in the container so they smelt funny when I opened it. (I hate the smell of the fennel) I comb them out while I roasted but the fennel smell still lingered. I will never buy this again.
The worst Apr 06, 2012
By Virditas These are not only black sesame seeds. Some other kinds of seeds (fennel?) are also in here. This is a supreme disappointment, as when I purchase "black sesame seeds," I expect black sesame seeds. These don't even smell like black sesame seeds.
The kind from JFC is much better.
These are very good Mar 09, 2012
By fidelisM These seeds are very good - flavorful, especially when toasted. We use these on many recipes. We eve use these for bagels, substituting poppy seeds. They are wonderful and crunchy. I wonder where they are made as the package does not specify clearly, therefore I give four instead of five.
Good quality sesame seeds Feb 09, 2012
By sftechie Great product, good quality and good packaging. We use a lot of sesame seeds in our cooking and these bigger sesame boxes (hard to find them in the supermarkets) are great value and great quality.
Too Bitter, No sesame flavor at all... Jan 21, 2012
By y1985s I was in a hurry when purchasing the item and did not check my local Asian Market. I trusted Amazon since I rarely had any bad experience with Products sold by Amazon. But I have to day I am extremely disappoited this time.
As pointed out by a previous reviewer, the seeds are quite small. They are not all black in terms of the color. I'd rather say something else (regular white sesame seeds?) are mixed in. Even after roasting, the aroma is not nearly as good as those unroasted decent black sesame seeds I had back when I was in China. Most importantly, the flavor! Those seeds are bitter and I dare say, you must put tons of sugar to barely cover the bittness. Unhealthy on one hand, and bad-tasting on the other hand.
I went to my local Asian market yesterday and I found the sesame seeds there, black and white, are of much better qualify and a lot cheaper.
Bottem line: Would not recommend it to anyone else. Do not waste your money. As much as I like Amazon, you just fail on this one.
