Don't waste your money & time Apr 18, 2008
By Joe Savage
"TOTB"
We purchased a GE Profile Microwave oven on 3/22/2008 from a local store and the microwave oven died within one week of the installation. We were not allowed to return the microwave to the store due to GE's Warranty Policy which mandates that a GE repair technician must determine if the microwave is repairable. If it is repairable, then they will force you to fix it. So after waiting for 1 week for a GE service technician to show up at our home, he determined that the "magnetron," the heart of the microwave, was dead and that he ordered another one and we need to wait for it to arrive and then reschedule a visit for him to repair it. We called GE to get their authority to allow us to return the microwave back to the store to either get our money back or return it for a new unit and they refused as per their policy. They obviously do not care about the consumer who obviously bought a lemon that died within 1 week's time. They make no exceptions. And we will make no exception in the future. We will NEVER buy any GE product again. This is the third GE product that we have purchased that has failed within a year's time. They may talk about quality but they lack integrity and clearly show that they do not care about the consumer. They respect only their own policies and processes. And so we purchased a new GE microwave less than 1 month ago, to replace an Amana that lasted over 5 years, and we are still left with no microwave and at least 2 more weeks and pray that it doesn't fail again. And if you take the time to Google: GE "microwave oven" customer complaint...you will be flooded with bad reviews!

Don't Buy a GE Mar 11, 2011
By Deborah A. Fulbright This was my third in 4 years. Each time after the warrenty had expired the microwaves stopped working. No warning just stopped working. I had a sharp Microwave that worked for years and I gave it away when we bought our new house. After 17 months the first GE microwave, bought brand new with the house, broke down (could not power up). Called G.e. and they gave me a credit towards a new GE microwave. Bought a second GE and it broke down at about 20 months. It stopped heating. Called the company again and got another credit to buy towards another GE microwave. Just over a year and it also stopped working. I am not calling them again. I am going to use another brand. I expect a microwave to last for at least over 10 years. They have been making microwaves for so long, why can't they get it right. Stay away from a G.E. Microwave oven.

Don't buy a GE microwave--piece of junk! May 03, 2011
By CC We purchased this microwave less than a year ago. After only a month the opening latch would get stuck. We lived with that--it takes a little jiggling to pop out sometimes, but this week the glass window started popping off in a corner, and tonight it crashed to the floor. Looks like it was attached with sticky tape. I used to work for GE Appliance Park and used to have respect for their products. GE profile is supposed to be high quality. I will not purchase another GE appliance. This thing is a hunk of junk.

Do GE microwaves have Magnetron problems? May 28, 2010
By Harold Fujita
"htf"
The GE microwave ovens appear to have magnetron problems. FYI: The magnetron is the high-powered vacuum tube that generates microwaves using the interaction of a stream of electrons with a magnetic field (wikipedia), thereby heating or cooking your food. My first PEB2060 started spontaneously "arcing." It would even arc when it was empty. Why then, you may ask, did I buy another one? For no other reason than I also bought a kit with the first PEB2060 that makes the microwave look like it's built into the kitchen cabinetry (BTW, the kit seems overpriced as it costs as much as the microwave), my wife loves the way it looks and it matches the other appliances. But, that's not the extent of my experience with GE microwave ovens. We also have a GE JEB1860 here at work. After 2 years the glass turntable broke! My coworkers and I are convinced it broke because the microwave seems to heat/cook hotter than what you punch in on the keypad. In fairness, I have other GE Profile appliances in my home and they haven't broken down. But, GE microwave ovens appear to have some sort of engineering flaw. If I had it all to do over again, I would go with another brand other than GE for microwave ovens.
GE APPLIANCES. Mar 26, 2012
By Robin

I MUST SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH GE APPLIANCES AT ALL OVER THE YEARS. MY KITCHEN IS ALL GE APPLIANCES EVEN DOWN TO THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL. I'VE MOVED INTO THIS HOUSE 10 YEARS AGO. NO PROBLEM WITH ANY OF MY APPLIANCES AND 19 YEARS IN MY PREVIOUS HOME. WITH THAT BEING SAID, I WILL CONTINUE TO USE GE PRODUCTS. AA+ FOR GE !! ROBIN M.
