not durable, broke within a year Oct 21, 2010
By Kittle I owned a Braun Multimix before this and after 8 + years it finally gave up so i purchased this one as i mainly needed an immersion blender.
Immersion blender: even though the shaft is metal the parts inside are all plastic so within a year the the washer holding the shaft inside broke with casual use.
Chopper; this is even worse. it broke when i tried to chop onions. The other problem i had with this is that it takes a lot of figuing out how exatly to get the the top of the chopper to align with the base. just any position wont do and they have no arrows to tell you teh correct position.
Knife: i really dont use it for much apart from slicing bread.. as thats really all you can do with this. its super noisy. this is the only attachment that is still working.
Yes the motor is very powerful and works fine, but what to do with it when all the attachments broke apart? the oster site does not even have a replacement part for this model.
Save your money and buy something else.

Used only 3 times before it broke Apr 13, 2010

I thought this would be a great purchase! But, I used it 3 times, and then it just stopped working. I made deviled eggs once, beat 2 eggs once, and pureed cooked beans once. Worked great each time, but, the next time I tried to puree the cooked beans, it just didn't work. No odd noises, no nothing. I just pressed the button and nothing!

Great kitchen addition Apr 13, 2008

Just got this today. I like the fact that it comes apart for ease of cleaning. I made a "shake" with skim milk, 3 ice cubes, Splenda and raspberries. It doesn't make "whipped cream" but it will make a low calorie shake/snack. Be sure to follow mfgs. directions. Use it for 60 seconds, then let it rest for 3 minutes to avoid burning out the motor.

Waste of Money = poorly designed, cheaply made Nov 13, 2011
By Douglas H. Schlink I recently took great pleasure in throwing this useless item into the trash bin, after suffering a year of frustration with it. Like my Oster toaster oven, (next addition to the trash) it is poorly designed, cheaply manufactured and performs marginally at best. The blade housing constantly came off in use, right from the first usage. When this happened, the blade would scratch the bottom of my expensive enameled Dutch oven. Most of the time, I would dirty the conventional blender and go through the additional steps of pouring soups, sauces etc. back and forth, rather than suffer the frustration of using this piece of junk.
I wrote Oster "Customer Service" about my problems, and they replied, "sorry". No offer made to make good or stand behind their junk product. I should have consulted reviews before purchasing this piece of garbage.

Good while it lasts Jun 20, 2011
By R. Jones I had mine for about 18 months and just blew out the motor. Great for light weight use but don't expect it to handle too much.
