Great Grates from Amazon!! May 25, 2012

After an exhaustive search at Home Depots and Lowes, where
I bought my CharBroil Commercial - I ended up finding the best
quality as well as the best price -as usual! -at Amazon!!
I don't know why I never thought to look here but I'm very
happy that my adventure ended with a great ending - shipping
was fast, too! I had the grates in 2 days! They were as nice as the originals!

2 years ago I bought some Char-Broil infrared grill that was, well, a mistake. Hated it. Just never got hot enough. It would gently warm food into submission. Instead of getting a new grill, which I was about to do, I bought these and some ceramic rocks. Now it is a normal 4 burner grill and it is (FINALLY) a usable grill. It gets more than hot enough and these very heavy grates get hot and hold heat very well.
It bums me out that I have invested about $100 or so to make a $500 grill work, but that is on Charbroil.
I recommend these grates for anyone.

The grates aren't as tall as the original Charbroil grates, so one of the grates just barely fits on the grill without falling in. Also, one my grates showed signs of rust after only 2 months. I bought these grates because the Charbroil grates began to rust badly after 3 years. Luckily the rust is in a spot where I normally wouldn't cook and the rest of the grates haven't displayed this issue. Price was the biggest factor as the Charbroil grates are significantly more expensive after the cost of shipping. I don't plan on owing this grill for another 3 years so this will hold me over until I finally pick out a new grill.

There is not much to say about a basic cast iron grid other than it seems to be a good smooth cast with no visable defects. I have cooked on it for a month now and it looks like it is going to last a long time as long as it is taken care of like any piece of cast iron cookware needs.
