I was familiar with the program on PBS and decided to get a permanent record of the receips. The ingredients are readily available and the instructions easy to follow. I agree with the other favorable reviews of this book.

This is a beautiful travelogue of places in Italy...and a book full of interesting recipes. There are not enough pictures of the dishes after they are prepared. When I cook something new for the first time, I would like to know how it is supposed to look.

Excellent homestyle Italian recipies,.......I gain weight everytime I watch her on TV,.......she's fantastic,..the book is wonderful.

You know the expression "never trust a skinny cook!". Well I would add "or one who is afraid to get her hands into it". Lidia is the best. Most of her recipes are simple, appealing, and utilize fresh ingredients. While some of the dishes are a bit "exotic"; she encourages us to try new things.

Not only does this book have recipes but it has informative backgrounds of all the regions of Italy. If you have the skills and take time to follow the recipes, you will be rewarded !
