5Lots of Chilis!!  Jan 23, 2010
By D. Sholly
Whoever has thought of chili as being even similar from recipe to recipe has never seen this book. I like it so much that I have decided to do like Julie and Julia and cook my way through it, and review the recipes. I will also keep a blog, so check it out and see the progress...will do 1 or 2 recipes per week. We live in Texas, and they take their chili seriously here, so let's put all these to the taste test! By Busy Manager
We entertain a lot, and there is nothing better than a dish that lets friends help themself whenever they like. The variety in this book is so wonderful ~ delicious gems that are unique and delicious. Directions are simple and comprehensive - call me when you have a pot ready and I'll be right over with the Sangria!

This is a fabulous book with many chile recipes. After buying one, I bought several more as gifts. Excellent - but only if you enjoy good food.

3Chili With A Kick  Oct 25, 2009
By Jimmy D
I've made four of the chili's in this book and every one of them was too hot for my wife and a couple of them were too hot for me. The flavors are great and sometimes the heat doesn't hit you until later.

So be advised only get this book if you like it hot. If you don't like it hot be prepared to tone down the chili powder and pepper portions.

4Good choices and good recipes  Mar 09, 2012
By Stephen L. Pepple
I saw a copy of this book just after having a bowl of chili at the Maine Diner and ordered it later that day with my reward points. I was pleased to find another local restaurant whose chili I admire was in here too, that being the Portsmouth Brewery. I made their recipe and it seemed like a very close and authentic rendition of the chili served in the restaurant, and it received rave reviews from my dinner guest. That's the only one I have made so far, but I am eager to try all of the others included. Just wish I could visit all of these diners and restaurants in person... other then the Maine Diner I won't know if the others are authentic or not, but they do look good! The pictures in the book are nicely done and the text is well laid out and easy to follow, and I like that it opens flat. I wish all cookbooks did.
