In our kitchen for over 5 years Jan 11, 2010
By R. Auriemma
"RA"
We've had the S9 for over 5 years now. The customer service is pretty good when you have a maintenance question. Makes the most of a good coffee bean by ensuring you get a hot espresso with a lot of real crema. Use strong non-oily beans for the best coffee in the world. Brands I have used include Intelligentsia, Lutz, Kimbo, Lavazza, and other good espresso beans. What I really like about this machine is you can make other coffee (in addition to the beans you have loaded in the machine). It has a one button function to override the beans you already have loaded and lets you add grounds to a compartment at the front of the machine. For example, I have Dunkin Donuts decaf grounds on hand for folks that want a decaf coffee. I also have decaf espresso grounds.
Keep up with the maintenance on this machine and it will take care of you. It's pricey, so just keep up with the maintenance to get your money's worth. The machine will let you know when it's time to change the water filter, clean using the tablets, and de-calcify.
After having a coffee from this machine, we never go to Starbucks or any other coffee shop for coffee. There stuff will not compete. Maybe over 5 years, we broke even on this machine by the $$ we saved by not spending 4-5 bucks on double lattes. Good luck with your choice.

Works Great Nov 06, 2011
By R. Ruiz
"Bohemian Bon Vivant"
Have had this a little over a year now and no issues at all, even though I use it all throughout the day, every day.
I always do all maintenance and replace filters as scheduled, and I use the cleaning tablets about once every week and a half because the coffee is noticeably better (I can taste when it's time to do this, even though it's much more often that Jura suggests).
The only coffee beans I use in it are Sumatra (from Peet's or Starbucks) because they're rich tasting without being too oily (which will affect how often the machine needs to be serviced). I have tried other brands like Illy Caffe and just don't like them (in anything, not just in this machine).
People who complain of the coffee not tasting good are not using the right beans and not adjusting the grind and so on until they discover what works best.
There's really not a thing I'd change about this machine. I also think it's the best looking of the Jura machines.

Lives Up To The Hype! Sep 13, 2010
By DRK Prior to purchasing the Impressa S9 I owned a Capresso C1000 for 12 years. The C1000 was a fully automatic coffee and espresso machine with a manual frothing system. I have to admit that I was very much a doubter that the FrothXpress system would actually work. However after owning and using the Impressa S9 for the past four months, I can say that it has lived up to the hype and then some.
The FrothXpress system performs as advertised and makes perfect froth every time. The S9 also makes an excellent quality shot of espresso. The one touch buttons and adjustments are extremely easy to use and customize. The extended siphoning hose allows for siphoning milk directly from the carton, eliminating the need for a separate milk container.
I can say that I have been pleasantly surprised by this machine and it was worth every penny.

Best home espresso machine out there Aug 01, 2010
By sbrown33 I have been using a Jura product for well over 10 years. I started with the Capresso 3000 and then moved on to the Jura Impressa S9.
This makes the best coffee and espresso drinks by far. I like my lattes better than Starbucks. You can make regular lattes, skinny lattes, soy lattes and any kind you can think of with the Torani syrups.
You can also make coffee fresh one cup at a time so that it is always fresh and has not been sitting in a heated pot.
My friends always love coming to my house so I can make them a latte just the way they want it.
It is very easy to use and their customer service is outstanding. They always answer the phone and will walk you through any issues. Over the 10 years, I think I had 2 repair with the machine, but they immediately, sent me a return label and either fixed the issue or replaced it, even when it was out of warranty.
I very enthusiastically recommend the Jura S9 enough especially if you love to have a daily latte.
