1Garbage  May 02, 2012

I bought this GE microwave appliance yesterday. I have not had luck with GE in recent years as I had 3 of my 5 GE Profile appliances fail or not perform as designed in my last home. My Wife said to give them another shot because she liked the looks of this microwave and it was in stock.

We used the microwave three times since delivery yesterday afternoon and its door is failing. The door does not open properly and the plastic is rubbing on the stainless steel exterior and has now cracked. This microwave is garbage and assembled in China. We are happily returning this POS on Friday and will officially be free of GE appliances!

1More of a microlife than microwave.  Feb 26, 2011

In three years, we have gone through two of these. After about 18 months, the first stopped cooking anything. We blamed it on the time someone turned it on for a couple minutes empty. So we got another; this one turns off the entire microwave after about 30 seconds of operation. If we unplug it for a while, it is good for another few seconds. Considering it is a built-in and takes 10 minutes to get it in and out, 30 seconds of operation doesn't quite cut it.

I did not buy this at Amazon, by the way, but enjoy the opportunity to vent about it.
