By M. boyd Tremendously effective for what I needed it for. It saves me a lot of time and I can use it on top of my stove or in the oven. It really works well with cooking foods and cooks it well without having to put the food back in the oven. It heats extremely well and evenly so that everything you put in it is ready at the same time. I really enjoy using it and I have noticed that I am now using is more so than my regular oven, and I don't have to stay in the kitchen for hours cleaning up.

top cover: handle attached by steel screw Jan 14, 2009
By Newton I purchased this product and I have yet to use it but I can rate this a one star because the cover is not one whole cast iron piece. In fact the top handle is attached by a clearly steel (I hope it's steel and not alumnium). The most annoying thing is that I'm not sure the knob attached is even cast iron.
It just annoyed the hell out of me because if you your handles is cast iron why would you deviate from that and make the cover so differently. I have checked all my pots/pans for their handles and this heuck cast iron dutch oven is the only one that will have a screw you can see beneath to attack the knob.
