Received as gift, would have rather been slapped! Oct 01, 2011
By Elizabeth I am gluten intolerant and all of my friends/family know this. Often times I receive random gifts of food because of this. Usually I am delighted to receive a new gluten free item from someone. It is always a welcome treat. However, these crackers have made me dread receiving new gluten free products as a gift.
I opened the box and thought the crackers looked like cute little cookies. I didn't expect cookies though, I expected crackers like the name implies. I also knew they would "taste healthy" because of the brand name and the fact that they are bran. What I put in my mouth was something that no one should suffer through. The cracker was VERY DRY, tasted like dirt and felt like sandpaper. Not to mention they smell funny. I can smell them from several feet away. Does that mean they are stale or expired perhaps?
I thought maybe they would be better in something or with something. So I dipped them in my tomato soup. Gross! That just made them turn into wet sand. Then I melted some cheese onto them in the toaster oven. Horrible! I ended up scraping the cheese off and just ate the cheese. The crackers are just god-awful and I'm not sure how they have received so many great reviews. I LOVE BRAN products usually and really enjoy "super healthy" foods, but these would barely pass for dog biscuits. I only wish I could return the remaining 5 boxes. I'm not sure what to do with them. Anyone want them?
Taste like varnish Jul 27, 2011
By Todd It seems like most of the good reviews were pre-2010 or early 2010.. dont know what changed, but these crackers taste strangely like varnish or paint thinner as was mentioned in a prior review. yucky yuckness.
Tasty fiber supplement. Jun 16, 2011
By Constant Reader These really are crackers, not cookies -- they're not very sweet, and that's why I like them. They have a pleasant taste and a nice texture; I can't think of a more pleasurable way to supplement fiber in a diet.
Convenient & Quick May 14, 2011
By S. Smith This is a product that I would go way out of my way to get until I discovered it on Amazon. I am wheat intolerant and I love these crackers which are made out of rice. I am very happy overall with my purchase.
Gluten free crackers Jan 29, 2011
By backpacker I order Health Valley rice bran crackers by the case---every two months. I have celiac disease and these are the best---by themselves or with peanut butter or almond butter.
