Traditionally Hawaiians use Alaea salt in ceremonies to cleanse, purify and bless tools and canoes, as well, in healing rituals for medicinal purposes. Alaea is the traditional Hawaiian table salt used to season and preserve. Alaea Hawaiian Sea Salt is non-processed and rich in trace minerals, all of which are found in sea water. A small amount of harvested reddish Hawaiian clay ('Alaea) enriches the salt with Iron-Oxide. Savor a unique and pleasant flavor while roasting or grilling meats. It is the traditional and authentic seasoning for native Hawaiian dishes such as Kalua Pig, Hawaiian Jerky and Poke.

Great sea salt! You don't have to use very much, just a pinch to obtain great results & great taste. Recommend highly, if you haven't tried it...please do so.

FOUND A RECIPE THAT CALLED FOR THIS SEA SALT. IT HAS A UNIQUE FLAVOR THAT WORKS WELL WITH MANY DIFFERENT FOODS. I LOVE IT! COMES IN A VARIETY OF COLORS DEPENDING ON THE MINERAL WITH THE SALT.

I love trying out different spices and salts. This salt claims to have a sort of clay taste afterwards and it really does. The price was right and the size of the bag was good also. I sometimes just take a pinch and enjoy it.

OMG wow! This stuff is awesome. The flavor is incredible, and it allows for great color contrast in certain dishes (e.g. I sprinkle it on some hummus for color + flavor). It works awesome for fish and veggies. The flavor is phenomenal, and the amount you need for that salty taste is perfect. We ordered several different salts (pink, gray, black, etc.)....but this one is, by far, our favorite over all. It tastes so clean!!!

You want good flavor without the unhealthy punch of regular salt? This is your answer. Very versatile and welcome.

With a nice salty taste you don't need to put much on the food. A little bit will do you, and gives great flavor to your food. I use it in all my dishes!
