5My Best Purchase This Summer!  Jul 28, 2010
This blender is the best purchase I have made this summer. It works great, is very easy to clean, and the dispenser does not drip at all! My kids love it and make smoothies for breakfast and in the afternoon. It is the best blender I have ever owned! I have used it for soups, icees, snow cones, smoothies, and margaritas. Love it!

5Buy This Blender  Jul 23, 2010
I've had the Hamilton Beach 54615 Wavestation Express Dispensing Blender with 48-Ounce Jar, Black for about a year now. I use it primarily to make frozen smoothies a couple of times per week.

There is a reason for all of the positive reviews. This blender works. Don't let the sub $20 price tag fool you. This is a high quality no frills machine that pulverizes ice cubes day after day. I was afraid it would not be able to handle the ice load, but I have had no problems yet.

The unit comes with a spout attachment that screws on to the dispenser jar. This is the only negative I have found, and even then its not that bad. The spout works, but not very well. To use the spout for frozen drinks, you must keep the blender mixing. I don't even use it at this point. It's just something extra to unscrew and clean. Fortunately, the blender also comes with a plain cap that can be used instead of the spout. Unfortunately, I have no idea where mine is.

Otherwise, everything else is very easy to clean. The base unscrews easily for cleaning of the blade and rubber gasket. This is recommended as food does get stuck there.

If anyone has problems getting their smoothies to blend, I would change the order in which you place the ingredients into the blender. This may sound obvious, but there must be some liquid on the bottom for the unit to work properly.

Overall, it is a great product at a great value. Recommended.

1Worthless  Jul 18, 2010
Have owned for a few months. Makes me want to cuss every time I use it.

1. Smells like burning rubber.

2. Has to be taken apart to be cleaned *every* time.

3. DOESN"T BLEND. Takes about 10-20 min to make a smoothie, w/ me standing there the whole time poking & prodding. Add some more yogurt at the end? Have to stir it in myself, because the machine won't mix it in.

4. Spout clogs, so I don't use it. Just one more part to be cleaned. And put back together wrong, resulting in smoothie-on-your-clothes. :D

5Great for the price  Jun 29, 2010
I bought this blender a couple of weeks ago with the express purpose of making blended coffee drinks. I was skeptical that it was going to do a decent job of crushing the ice but as long as I added liquid it did an awesome job. I tried crushing the ice first then adding the liquid but it works best when you add everything at once. I haven't used the spout yet I just dump the contents into my cup from the jar since I'm the only one who uses it and I only make 1 serving at a time. I figure with the price of $16 it's already paid for itself and then some (considering I used to spend over $4 a day at Starbucks) and I can make my drink using sweet n' low and soy milk just like them which saves tons of calories and is great because I'm lactose intolerant. For me, at least, this blender is a keeper.
