Description:

In 1947, Achille Gaggia introduced the first pressure brewing espresso machine into the world. Today, the Gaggia Classic is a best selling model, standing as a timeless piece of kitchen equipment that is applauded by coffee aficionados worldwide. With its commercial style portafilter, brew group, and three-way solenoid valve, the Gaggia Classic provides a combination of convenience and maximum productivity. By creating a virtually dry puck that is easy to knock out of the portafilter, these features help to make clean up simple and mess-free – unlike other espresso machines that feature pressurized style portafilters. Heat stability and retention are also unmatched with the Gaggia Classic, thanks to the full 1 lb of chrome-plated marine brass that makes up its commercial style portafilter. The Classic’s easy-to-use brewing and steaming controls are paired with a traditional appearance that matches stainless steel appliances and fits perfectly into any upscale kitchen, making this machine a must-have for any at-home barista. Includes two stainless steel filter baskets (one and two shot), a coffee tamper, a 7g measuring scoop, and an instructional CD. Specifications: * Removable 72oz water reservoir * Chrome-plated marine brass 58mm commercial style portafilter for use with ground coffee or ESE coffee pods * Commercial brew group * Turbo Frother attachment mounted on a ball joint * 3.5oz boiler with two external heating elements * 55 watt electric pump * Three-way solenoid valve * Rocker-switches control power, steaming and brewing * Five demitasse cups sit in the passively heated cup warmer * Polished or brushed stainless steel finish * 1425 Watts - 110/120 Volts * 14.25”H x 8”W x 9.5”D * 20lbs Accessories Included: * Single/pod and double shot stainless steel filter baskets * Coffee tamper * 7 gram scoop * Instructional CD

5Great machine  Apr 11, 2012

I have this machine for over 15 years and I can't be happier with it. It is also impressive that Gaggia Classic has sturdy, compatible and replaceable parts. A caveat is that if you have never done it, you have to learn how to properly make an espresso.
You will find many guides with this machine on youtube or if you just search the internet on google or bing.

If you are looking for a manual, high pressure, espresso machine then look no further. If it ever breaks, I'll get another one.

5My 2010 best purchase  Feb 11, 2011

If you are looking for a reasonably priced espresso machine that make a great cup of coffee then search no further. The Gaggia Classic priced at about $400 is the best espresso maker you can find in the market in the $300-500 range. It makes the most perfect cup of coffee (even better than Pete's or Starbucks) in less than a minute. The milk frother is easy to use and cleaning it is as easy as ABC. I love using the frother and am learning how to make pretty fern leaf patterns on my lattes.

I no longer dread waking up in the morning thanks to my Gaggia Classic. I now go to bed thinking about my morning cup of soy latte in the morning :p

2Disappointed!  Jan 26, 2011
By Nick
We just cant get this machine to make a decent cup of coffee! We have had espresso coffee machines before that have costed a fraction of this machine and done a much better job. No matter how we grind the coffee beans or how firm we press them down the water flows through far too quickly and we end up with a very, very weak coffee, not a hint of the European strength or smooth velvet creaminess, with or without the new creamer gadget. We have had this machine for a little over a month now and have tried 3 different types of coffee. If anyone out there is having more success than we are we would love to hear your tips on which coffee to use etc. In the meantime we shall persevere...for now.
