GE JES1344SK Excellent Nov 24, 2008
By Ronald Keuler

I have owned the GE JES1344SK for three months. The heating is very even with no hot spot problems, due to having the turntable design.
The readout is bright. The cabinet and door construction is very good. I especially like the high quality finish on the door AND case. When you receive this oven you need to remove the blue protective plastic from the cabinet. I have read other reviews describing the oven case to be blue. Apparently the reviewer did not read the instructions to remove the blue plastic on the cabinet to reveal a beautiful satin stainless finish.
The rotary control is very refreshing to use rather than the conventional push button panel, but it takes some learning.
I have found this microwave oven to be excellent in every way, and highly recommend it.

Don't buy this microwave Nov 04, 2010

Bought the first one. It had a faulty display, whole display would light up and flash randomly.
Took it back and exchanged it for another one
The second one completely failed after a month. First I noticed the clock would be off every once and a while, then the Kitchen timer stopped randomly, then it ceased to microwave.
Took it back for a refund.
This product is not worth the hassle.

GE Microwave Oven Model JES1344sk Jun 26, 2011
By John F. Ballard Typical GE quality control, circa 2011. Made in China, natch. Bought this POS at my local Target for $120 and schlepped it home, got it plugged in, read the manual-and guess what? It doesn't work! Surprise, surprise. Guess Immelt is too busy paling around with the DC crowd to actually make stuff that turns on. What a sad, sad company GE has become.

OK microwave ruined by horrible user interface Apr 26, 2010

The microwave itself seems to be OK. Had it about a year and it still works OK. The top brown feature is a mostly useless gimmick.
I bought it because I figured with the dial it would be easy to set like microwaves of the 1980s, boy was I wrong. The user interface on this microwave is half baked and simply awful. It's inconsistent as can be. To start the microwave you turn the dial to the time and hit start. Simple enough, right? It's cooking now and I want to add another minute to the cook time. No problem, just turn the dial. Oh wait, while it's running the dial doesn't do anything! Instead there's tiny little "+ Time" "- Time" buttons. To add a minute you have to press the tiny + Time button SIX TIMES! Or you can open the microwave, hit CLEAR, close it and set the time again with the dial. An incredible hassle just to add a minute to cooking time. Why in the world couldn't the dial just be turned to add time? It makes no sense at all.
OK, I'm cooking again, and need to add time. This time hitting the + Time button DOES NOTHING! Why? Because I'm using it in quick mode. For whatever reason while in quick mode, the only way to add time is to HIT THE START BUTTON AGAIN! This adds 30 seconds. Ordinarily while cooking the start button does nothing. Why in the world is this set up like this?
Alright, time to defrost some meat. I hit power level, it comes up asking the power level I want to use. No problem, I just turn the dial. Oh wait, that CANCELS THE POWER LEVEL MODE!!! WHY?? Do I hit the more/less buttons? No, that does nothing. I have to press the power level button over and over and over again until it shows the power level mode I want. Oops, I passed over it, keep hitting it until it cycles back around like setting a dimestore digital watch. Unbelievable.
OK, so I finally have it working. BEEP BEEP BEEP. My food is done. Let me just finish what I'm doing and I'll grab it. BEEP BEEP BEEP ... BEEP BEEP BEEP... incredible. AFTER THE MICROWAVE STOPS IT KEEPS BEEPING FOREVER UNTIL SOMEBODY GOES OVER AND OPENS IT. I checked the book, there's no way to turn off that "feature".
Every single day I regret buying this microwave.

Solid microwave oven. Mar 12, 2012
By PatrickSoCal The price was cheap and I really liked the look of it. Even with the bad reviews, I still gave it a try, with the full intent on returning it if it sucked. But I have been satisfied with it. Only do basic cooking and reheating. And it does those well. All the other complaints that others have are legit, but none of them bother me. If you want an attractive looking and basic functions microwave, you'll be happy.
