Description:

In writing this cookbook, the writers had in mind not only the hundreds of thousands of Filipinos abroad but also non-Filipinos whose broadening interests are making them appreciate new experiences including foreign cookery. Those who enjoy Chinese and Japanese foods, for instance, may find Philippine cooking just as good and easy to try especially if they can use local products and follow simplified cooking proceedures. The main body of this book is made up of 400 recipes which are grouped according to major parts of a meal. Thus there are sections from appetizers to desserts. Main entrees are grouped according to the main ingredient used--beef, fish and seafoods, pork, poultry, rice and noodles.

5This is the only Filipino cookbook you will need...  Dec 19, 2002

I have owned this cookbook for over 16 years now (I bought mine in the Philippines), and this has, by far, the easiest and great tasting Filipino recipes. I am from the Philippines and the recipes here are very authentic. The best part about this cookbook is that the ingredients are adapted for the United States. You can easily find all the ingredients. So if you are ever interested in trying out Filipino cuisine, this is the book for you.

5Traditional Filipino Cooking!  Apr 06, 2010
By Kiasia
For anyone who wants authentic Filipino cooking, I HIGHLY recommend this book! This is the cookbook that my mom used when she first came to the United States from the Philippines, and naturally, I love my mother's food. When I visited the Philippines last summer, I was very excited that the recipes didn't "neutralize" the flavor - everything is just how I've always known!

Now that I'm older and living in my own place, I wanted a good Filipino cookbook so I could cook food that reminded me of home. What other book than the one my mom has used for the past 25+ years? My only critique would be that some of the recipes call for MSG, but that can simply be taken out or substituted with salt or patis (fish sauce). Other than that, the layout is simple, well organized, and easy to follow.

I owned several Philippine cookbook but so far this book is the best. I was even suprise that this book is available from Amazon since I bought mine from the Philippines. The book is well adapted for American and most ingredients are easily availble from any Asian stores. If you are interested in learning in to cook Philippines recipes then get this book. Can't go wrong.

5Delicious  May 24, 2000

I bought this book when I was visiting the Philippines and tried a few recipes upon my return for my friends. The recipes are easy to follow and contains a list of substitutes for those who don't have a Filipino grocery store nearby. I'm buying another copy for my sister so she can cook the food we both grew up on.
