I love chocolate, I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur by virtue of being a woman. If you have ever had one of those days where you wanted a box of tissues and to gorge then this isn't for you, I repeat this isn't it. firstly the shipping price is prohibitive, and isn't the amazon suggested rather it is a little over $10. the boxes themselves aren't as generous as they appear, they are two small boxes of bite size brownies, I think bite size and brownie is an oxymoron. a couple of them didn't seem to be thoroughly baked on the bottom.
So you are sitting there in tears and your woes are exacerbated by the price of this of which the shipping alone could have gotten you two respectable brownies from your local store just to take you over the threshold, you are done with half of them before you can even begin to feel better, and then you realize you have just had yourself a half a box of brownies and aren't even satisfied which is just bound to push you over the edge. Also it doesn't come with the bow it is alleged to have rather a paper ribbon if I can call it that, it is no matter since we are focusing on gourmet content and not presentation or are we?
This is nice for guests, as a small tray of sweets, good presentation and looks professional, I wouldn't venture to bring it into someone's house as a warming gift or your own gourmet contribution to the holidays if you are an invited guest who feels obliged to bring a little something...neither the taste, nor the price or the size are satisfactory.
The word 'sampler' should have been the give away that I refused to acknowledge .. for some reason i felt it meant different types of brownies not microscopic brownies.. with the exception of the two peanut butter blondies they all taste pretty similar, I really couldn't distinguish them.. thus I subtracted a star for each demerit.
1- price (especially shipping) very prohibitive.. for that alone I wouldn't venture into this purchase again.
2- size as contrasted to price or even the box presentation. 3 regular sized brownies is equal to what you get in this box of 12. So you do the math.
3- taste-- I just wasn't impressed.. brownies are very basic, there is no complexity or multi-layering for you to miss the difference.. this isn't wine tasting it is the humblest of treats...
I think I'll stick with my usual brand.. though it is always good to try something new.. I'd gotten these for myself for my upcoming bday (which I was depressed about) .. I think I'll sit there and wait for my family to surprise me with my usual windmill cake =)

I do have to preface this review by saying I ordered directly from embrace sweets and not Amazon, but the product is the same.
The best part of the embrace sweets experience was that I got to tailor my order. I went through and chose different varieties of brownies and blondies. The product comes in a small box, with each brownie being individually wrapped in plastic and labeled as to kind.
The order came fairly quickly; within 4 days.
I don't know if it was the anticipation, but I was very disappointed.
The brownie/blondie order was fairly expensive, and the product did not compare to the brownies I bake from a box.
And I always take great care of the quality and consistency of the brownies I bake.
We started taking bets on whether or not the brownies/blondies would be baked all the way through, most were or not.
I ended up having to throw out a lot of my order.
I recommend skipping these brownies. A better result will be gained from a box, for about 5% of the cost.

My wife ordered these after a friend recommended them as being her "all time favorite brownie". I stole a couple and have to say I agree. I've since ordered these for gifts on mother's day, birthdays, etc. because it's a bit different than the usual box of See's candies I used to get. The presentation is great, which the girls always love, but it's what's inside that counts. These are truly gourmet brownies.

This company has finally admitted they are in over their heads and have closed down their normal website and just dealing with amazon customers. Don't be sucked in!!! They cannot deliver brownies worth anything. Order from someone else.
