1Nothing is Perfect  Oct 09, 2009
By Charlie Jinn "cxjinn"
My wife and I have spent a lot of money in our life time buying pots and pans. Some even claims "life Time Warranty" and cost triple the price, but nothing last a life time, not even close. When it was time to purchase another set, I did a lot of research (for days). Consumers Report, Amazon.com, etc. Earth Pan received very good reviews over all and it was safe (no PTFEs or PFOAs)- we have young children.

The first few days, everything was fine. We read the instructions twice to make sure we followed everything to the letter.

Cons:
1. Non-stick: It still sticks, and depends on what you are cooking, cleaning up afterwards could still be time consuming.
2. Stainless steel handles gets very hot, so be careful, or get the plastic/rubber handle set.
3. Somehow when you get stains on the outside of the pots or pans, NO WAY of cleaning it off. I have research the internet and tried everything, and the stains are still there.
4. Like many other complaints about this set, yes, the pots are too small for everyday use. I agreed.

Pro:
1. Earth pan is well made and attractive.
2. Price is right.

If oneday the non-stick coating comes off (and they will, like all the other non sticks cookwares we ever own), I don't have to worry about harmful chemicals getting into our bodies (espically our kid's).

Update: 11/30/09

These pans are just as bad as the others. It sticks really bad after 3 months. I am so disappointed! Days of research and the "Consumers Report Rating" has not provided me with any satisfactions. Don't buy this. Really.

1I thought at first this was an amazing set of pans  Jan 09, 2010
By MSB "cloth diapering, homeschooling Mom"
I had a set of stainless steel pans and before that what I consider to be toxic T-Fal type coated pans. So after getting frustrated cooking with holiday company here (hate cooking eggs in stainless steel). I went on amazon to find a new set of eco friendly non toxic pans.
These pans arrived the next day. Amazing! They were more than I hoped for. You are not to use cooking spray on nonstick finish (which I had no idea about before), and they are dishwasher safe. The largest pot is wonderful for cooking pasta for my large family of 6. Making eggs is dream in the skillet or fry pan. I could not be more thrilled with this purchase.
I had seen them listed here for $114 after I bought them, wish Amazon would refund the difference for you if it's within 30 days. But regardless this set was well worth the money. They are a good solid set and one you can feel safe using for your family, knowing that no toxic chemicals are leaching into your food as you prepare it.

updated review as of 4/1/10:
The fry pans in the set are now useless after 4 months. I called the Earth pan company (Meyer) today and explained them that despite my following their directions for pan use (only olive or peanut oil for taste no non stick cooking spray) and though they say not dishwasher safe when you talk to them, Amazon says "dishwasher safe" and the insert directions in the pans themselves do say dishwasher safe as well the earth pan website. The rep was very nice and I was given a choice to return the pans that are ruined (3) and choose something else as a replacement. But the cost to return is on me though they will ship the new pans to me on them. I was also told this is not a warranty issue and that this is not an issue covered on this set of pans as they do not offer a lifetime warranty as on other sets in their pan lines).
I would caution other buyers to be mindful when purchasing as eventually these pans will stick. I followed all directions and yes did put them in the dishwasher as that was indicated to be okay. I'm wondering if folks who have not had issues have just opted to handwash instead.
Now I'm thinking of just getting two Faberware Stainless fry pans. The rest of this set has not given me any issue so far. I have put the saucepans in the dishwasher with no ill effects, so not sure why the fry pans have been so effected. Meyer told me it might have been a bad batch.

1Finish came off, residue on pans  Apr 22, 2009
By J. Pryor
Purchased two skillets in December and was impressed with their non-stick glidy finish. We stir-fry veggies, meat dishes, fish, fry eggs and bacon....but 4 months later we have the finish coming off in small areas all over the bottom and sides! and residue building up that appears baked into the finish. Beware that if you use much high heat with them that this may cause the problem, but regardless, they did not last any time at all. We have had to replace them with new products. The warranty was good for 30 days - and like most warranties they outlived their return policy. I would not buy any more - because if you can't heat them to stir fry or fry eggs without these problems, they aren't worth having!

5No longer recommended by me  Apr 22, 2010
By Nomastx
We've had our Earthpan cook set for almost 3 months now. Initially, I was somewhat wary of purchasing these based on the mixed reviews; seems people either really love them or really hate them. From reading these reviews, I thought that maybe there may be inconsistencies in the manufacturing process. However, as a big fan of Consumer Reports, I crossed my fingers and held my nose as I placed my order.

The cook set arrived quickly and in perfect shape. No chips, scratches, nicks, or dents. I did note that a rattling noise came from one of the handles of the 8 quart stock pot. Nothing loose or missing but it does rattle. Other than that, they arrived in perfect condition.

After hand-washing the set, I used the 8 inch pan to cook a scrambled egg. The pan was almost too non-stick, if that makes sense. The egg slid around in the pan like it was floating. I was amazed, but then I was used to cooking with pans that had lost (and ingested by me) most of their Teflon surface. Anyway, I was astounded by the non-stick surface of my new pans. Wow!

After using these pans on a daily basis for almost 3 months, I can truthfully say that I'm still very satisfied with my purchase. The non-stick surface is not quite as astounding as it was when the pans were first used but is still very, very good. I use a shot of Pam when cooking eggs and have had no problem with sticking, staining, or any kind of buildup. I've sauteed with canola oil, olive oil, and butter and have had no issues. I hand wash these pans with a soft bristled brush and use only non-metallic utensils. There is not even the slightest scratch on any one of them. I kid-you-not when I say they look as good now as the day they arrived. Furthermore, the stay-cool handles really stay cool - unless they're positioned over a hot eye. I've only cooked on an electric stove-top and haven't tried using them in the oven.

Given my 3 months of near-daily usage, I would highly recommended this cook set to others. I feel others who've been less than happy have legitimate complaints but I've not experienced anything negative to write about. Maybe they're using their cook sets in a different manner or received an defective product. I do wish the set included a 12-inch pan instead of the 10-inch but I plan on buying 12-inch cast iron skillet to fill this void and to provide a pan for high-temp cooking.

If I begin to experience any problems with this cook set, I will update this review accordingly.

****UPDATE*****

Now that we've been using our Earth Pan set for a little over a year, I have to admit my initial love of these pans has gone away. All of the pots and pans in this set began to loose their nonstick qualities within months - more so with the ones that are used more regularly. We actually threw the sauté pan out this morning - ruined by overheated olive oil. The 10-inch skillet is turning brown and is only non-stick with an ample amount of oil. The pots and the 8-inch skillet are still ok but they are used much less frequently.

I was initially excited about this cookware set but now realize they are not a good longterm investment. If you're only an occasional cook, these may work for you but they've not held up to almost daily usage and I do not recommend them.

1Not worth it...  Feb 05, 2010
By Christy P
My husband is very cautious to read reviews before making 'major' purchases. He was very impressed with the reviews and the eco-friendly aspect of these pans therefore he bought the set for me for Christmas (on my request for new pans). I absolutely loved these at first. I made sure everyone in the hhouse knew how they were to be used and cared for so we could keep them like new as long as possible. About 6 months into owning them, one pan got ruined - i think my teen-aged son sprayed cooking spray in it. There was absolutely nothing i could do to get it clean and have things not stick. Now its about 1 year later and the pan i use the most is sticking horribly. I am very dissappointed in these pans and hope that anyone who buys them doesnt get their expectations up too high. We are going with cast iron...tried and true - easier to maintain, clean and more durable.
