Used Once, Bought a Dedicated Food Processor Mar 13, 2009
By Amanda Kay Miller I absolutely love my Cuisinart Stand Mixer and have been slowly purchasing the attachments as needed. This one was a mistake; not for lack of productivity though. As a food processor it works fantastically. The attachment is FAR too LOUD. As written previously by another reviewer, I don't know who could stomach the unit running on Speed 12! I can barely go past 4 or 5. I have only used this attachment once because of the noise - it is the most ear shattering racket you will ever hear.
I decided to purchase a dedicated food processor appliance and use my mixer solely for mixing, pasta making and blending (I received the blender attachment free, but have yet to use it - hopefully it's quieter, but it uses the same power port as the food processor).
This attachment will do the job, but I recommend investing your money into a separate unit to spare your hearing, and not to scare your pets and children.

perfect if wearing ear plugs!!! Jan 29, 2009
By Erin This mixer works great I have chopped and shredded all kinds of things with it. The only draw back for me and the reason for only 4 stars is the noise level. If you use this on high speed #12 like the instructions suggest it is horribly loud. I turn it down unless I am chopping something hard like carrots, or shredding parmesan. Overall I am happy I bought this.

Mixed review for food processor attachment Aug 05, 2010
By Wendy Smith I received this attachment as a holiday bonus with my new stand mixer. If I had paid for it, I'm not sure that I would have kept it. The stand mixer is a 5 star product - I love it! The processor attachment has some "issues". It only functions well at the highest speed setting which is not made clear enough in the instructions. Once I figured that out, I had much better luck. It is very convenient for small jobs and does a reasonable job of grinding, but it will definitely not replace a full-size processor, the bowl is small. I didn't have much luck slicing some vegetables which is smashed rather than sliced, but I tried that in the very beginning before I realized that it needed to be set at the highest speed. Will have to try that again.
It's biggest problem is noise. It is loud - I mean loud - I mean hold your hands over your ears to prevent deafness loud. I literally hold my hands over my ears while it's running and turn it on and off with my elbow. This thing could damage your hearing. I called Cuisinart to inquire about it and the person I spoke sheepishly admitted that they had had a lot of "comments" about how loud it was. Cuisinart needs to do some work on this one.
If you're considering buying this attachment, you might be better served by a highly rated small countertop processor.

so noisy i used it once! Jan 19, 2010
By cindy This was free for purchasing the mixer (which I absolutely love). Had I paid for this, I'd have returned it immediately. The noise is unreal! I had to put my dogs, who went crazy, outside, and cover my ears to puree a batch of carrots. It's too much work and drama to go thru. I am back to using my 20plus year old Cuisinart. This was used once and will collect dust in my garage forever.

Not worth buying! Jul 30, 2010
By dakwriter As the other reviewers have indicated, this is one noisy little contraption. How the stand mixer it attaches to can be so much quieter at the same speed, I don't know. Maybe it's that tiny blade of whirling death. This processor works okay, but in addition to the noise factor it's too small to be practical for everyday use, especially considering the steps you have to take to assemble it onto the mixer and all the little parts that have to fit together precisely. The three cup capacity just can't handle most kitchen chopping tasks. For that little food, I'll use a knife, thank you very much, which will be far easier to clean and possibly safer to handle! Quite frankly, the high position, noise and quick action of the blades on this processor actually make it kind of scary to use!
I got my mini-processor accessory through a rebate program for my Cuisinart stand mixer purchased through Amazon. It's worth every penny ($0) I paid for it, too! The next time I go to chop a small amount of nuts, veggies or whatever, if I don't just use a knife I'll use the chopper grinder attachment that came with my Cuisinart Smart Stick hand blender (which is much cheaper than the usual price of this processor.) The capacity isn't much smaller, it's a far quieter and MUCH easier to assemble & clean unit and it isn't at all scary to use. For larger everyday tasks, I'd recommend buying a standard size food processor. While having lots of attachments for the Cuisinart stand mixer sounds like a good idea, as evidenced by this mini processor, it doesn't necessarily work out that well in real life.
