Excellent Milk Shake Maker Dec 18, 2010
By Johnny Williams

The hamilton beach classic drinkmaster in an excellent addition to your kitchen appliance setup if you like milk shakes. I have hunted a long time for a quality milkshake maker and this one makes them just as good as they come. The appliance itself is made of sturdy construction, and the cup itself is made of some type of spun aluminum i guess, its not going to break anytime soon. This milk skake maker incorporates air into the mixture and gives it a really good texture as you drink it. Easily drinkable through a straw such as the ones you would get from a fast food place. Have used mine for a good two years, really putting it through its paces during the summer time for myself, friends and family. If it ever broke i would definately buy another one again. Excellent product and works as described.

Hamilton Beach 727W Drink Mixer Jan 30, 2010
By K. Benjamin I have only used this product to mix ice cream shakes, which it does quite well, though I have to be patient while the ice cream gets soft enough to be blended in well. The cup is very sturdy and the product is an excellent value.

So-So Feb 05, 2012

I have had this for years. I have mostly used to mix up protein shakes and not much else.
This is a classic stand type drink mixer designed to make milkshakes or other frothy beverages that don't have solids in them. This isn't a blender, so it doesn't have blades of any kind, so it won't puree or blend solids. It has a propeller type mixer on the end of a removable stainless steel shaft that inserts into the bottom of the powerhead, which also tilts 45 degrees to make removing the mixing jar easier.
This is a mixer, not a blender, so it will mix up chocolate milk and it makes milkshakes as well. If you have a powdered drink mix that you need to mix up, then this will work for that too.
You get a 2-speed motor and a 28 ounce polished stainless steel mixing jar that looks very nice. There is a clip and a base on the mixer stand that the jar rests on to keep it steady so you don't have to hold it during mixing.
As far as set-up, there's not much to do, insert the mixing paddle, put the ingredients in the jar (don't overfill it!), set the jar in the holder, lower the mixing head, and turn it on.
Now, there are 2 speeds, why I am not sure because the first setting causes the machine to vibrate quite intensely, enough that it feels like it's going to shake itself to pieces. I don't know what this setting is for, maybe to pre-mix the contents before increasing the speed? You need to be careful when turning it up to the next speed because it might splash the drink out all over the place. I had it happen to me several times and it makes a mess, splattering all over the mixer and counter top. It also had a tendency to throw off droplets of drink as it is mixing.
The motor is plenty powerful. I mixed up ice cream and milk and it did a good job of it. Plus, the drink mix I use is tough to mix, but this really helps to mix it thoroughly in only a couple minutes. Mixing it by hand would take several minutes and wouldn't do as good a job.
The jar holds plenty of liquid, enough to make a nice big milkshake, but it doesn't stay locked onto the stand very well. I had to steady it with my hand sometimes because it felt like it was going to come off. The height of the stand also makes it hard to mix to the bottom of the jar where powdered drink mix can accumulate.
Pros:
Seems to be well-made Plenty of power Easy to clean Stainless steel jar looks good and is easy to clean
Con's:
Jar holder doesn't really hold the jar very well The first speed causes intense vibrations The highest speed can throw and splash the drink all over

This is the best milkshake maker!! We have had ours since the 80's. Our kids love milkshakes and this makes quick and easy work of making them (I make them several times a week). It's also very easy to clean. I can't give it enough stars. Definite buy in a household full of milkshake lovers.

By Iowagirl I ordered this mixer to be used for primarily malts. We have used it approximately 6 times and have been very pleased.I purchased the cup that many buy along with it, but for some reason it wont attach like the cup that comes along with it. For the price, I highly recommend this mixer.
