Quick, Easy, and Tasty! Aug 12, 2010
By Net Admin / Home Chef This cookbook is a good source for some very quick, easy, and very tasty Chinese recipes. It's from the same cook who did the BBC series Chinese Food Made Easy. There is a good selection of chicken, pork, beef, tofu (dofu), and seafood dishes. However, getting all the ingredients for some recipes will likely require going to an Asian grocery store or even ordering on-line if you are not doing a lot of Chinese cooking already. You'll need fermented black soybeans, fresh shiitake, oyster, and enoki mushrooms, yellow bean paste, and Sichuan peppercorns along with the more common Chinese five-spice powder and fresh ginger, chili, and garlic.
Once you gather all the ingredients, some good choices are Juicy Chilli Chicken and Cashew Nuts, Oriental Mushrooms and Dofu in Garlic Black Bean Sauce, Saucy Beef Dofu, Griddled Yellow-bean Pork or Sichuan-style sweet-and-sour shrimp.
This book was created to accompany a TV show which ran on Five TV in the UK so you can also find the recipes along with an episode guide and film clips on-line at their web site, [...]. If you manage to find the full episodes on-line, they are well worth watching.
