Great pan for Chicken & Dumplings Jul 27, 2007

I love this pan! The side handle is the feature that attracted me because large pans are SO heavy to lift. The design of this pan allows large quantities to be cooked and moved safely. It also braised perfectly because of the heavy bottom. The reasonable price was a bonus! The see-through lid with a metal rim to protect the glass from chipping makes it easy to see the food cooking and allows those "curious kitchen visitors" (aka kids, significant other, etc.) to see in the pan without removing the lid.

Love this pan! Oct 23, 2007
By gambler at heart This pan is fantastic, it's deep and large, and the nonstick surface is great. The glass lid also lets you check your food without lifting the lid. The pan is heavy, but the small handle lets you lift it easily. Great for frying, stewing, and braising. Catch it for $24.99 on the Friday sale.

Not for the long haul Feb 04, 2010
By Erica I got this in 2008 for Christmas, I had put it on my Amazon wish list. At first it was great, the size is great for our family of 6 and the lid was nice, seemed to work well, handles were nice, and yes it's heavy but I thought that meant nicer product. Well probably 6-8 months later the surface started wearing down, and now there is no more non-stick to it at all! I never saw anything flaking off (like my old t-fal did) so I don't know where the surface went or if that is/was unhealthy. I always have to use non-stick spray now or oil and somethings still stick. I hand washed it and didn't use metal utensils. Perhaps it's not meant to be used several times a week. Maybe if you only plan to use it once in awhile it would be good. This is not a good long term investment in my opinion.

Big size, easy to clean Oct 09, 2007
By Thomas J. Delaney This is a nice big pan with high sides, so when frying the oil does not splatter all over the place. It is also very easy to clean. The only negative is that it is very heavy to lift if you don't use the second handle.

Dream Come True Aug 20, 2009
By Pam Swope

I have dreamed of having a new, quality Saute pan for ages! I've been using one the belonged to my husband before we got married and it has been over used and abused. According to him it was "still good". Well enough is enough! It's time for a new pan. After all, I'm the cook. So I began my search for the perfect pan. You have to have the right tool for the job. I began my search here on Amazon and discovered this particular Calphalon Hard Anodized 5 qt pan. I fell in love. I read all the info as well as all the reviews. I was about 99.9% sold. I went to the Calphalon website and researched more. I not only got all the info on the pan, but I got educated in how to use it. I have been using my cookware the wrong way. I didn't pre-heat the pan as directed. I used spray oil and found out I shouldn't. Wow! Did I feel stupid! Needless to say, I purchased this pan and it is everything I had hoped for. It's beautiful in design. It's strong and substantial. It's nonstick when you use it as directed (duh!) and it cleans up like a breeze. Thank you Calphalon for such a quality product and thank you Amazon for selling it!
