Very Pleased Mar 02, 2008
By D'bo If you are looking for good quality, affordable cookware, I highly recommend Calphalon Contemporary for the following reasons: 1. No teflon or aluminum in contact with the food 2. Lids fit perfectly. Lids on regular Calphalon and other cookware we looked at were loose fitting, wobbly. 3. Easy to clean with soap and water. Certain foods will leave some discoloration which is easily removed using "Barkeepers friend". 4. "China" is not stamped anywhere on the Contemporary. This meant a lot to us. All other cookware we looked at including the standard Calphalon had "Made in China" stamped on the bottom. We don't like anything made in China, but as most everything is, at least we don't have to be reminded of it every time we use our Calphalon Contemporary. Judging by the perfect weight, design, and quality of the Contemporary cookware, it's hard to believe it's made in China. We have purchased our Calphalon Contemporary cookware piece by piece so as to have only the cookware we typically use with nothing wasting space in the cupboard. We currently have seven pieces in our collection not including lids. The Calphalon Contemporary cookware is well worth the added cost over the regular Calphalon cookware. Hope this review helps.

Excellent pot Sep 13, 2009

I built a calphaon contemporary set and this pan worked beautifully. I only wish they made a 1 quart model. HOWEVER, the first time I used it, it turned blue. I called the company number and they explained sometimes that happens at first and Bar Keepers Friend will fix it right up. And it did! Now it only gets discolored occasionally and Bar Keepers Friend makes it look like the day it arrived.

Fantastic Cookware Sep 18, 2008

We bough this pot separately as we really needed two of them and only one came in the initial set we bought. We love the entire line, and this particular saucepan is great for small jobs, like heating a can of soup, cooking hot cereal, or making small sauces for a meal. The cookware is sturdy, the lids work great, and they hold up well. Very pleased.

More effective than I thought! Feb 17, 2006
By Melinda Marshall I bought the Calphalon because I have a Gaggenau ceramic-top stove and my Revereware took FOREVER to heat on its elements. (The copper bottom wasn't flat enough, and wound up reflecting instead of absorbing the heat.) The Calphalon is almost too good--we're having to relearn how to cook on this stove, because the pan is so heat absorptive and retentive it's easy to overcook our food. We can use a much lower temperature, and take the food off the burner much sooner. I'm sure our lowered electricity bill this year will more than make up for the cost of these pans.

Not worth the money I paid! Feb 01, 2007

Baring the Calphalon name I was expecting something really nice, especially for the price I paid through Amazon of $84.95 - boy was I disappointed. Although Amazon is selling it as high-quality piece the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Glass Lid is clearly on the cheaper side of the Calphalon brand. It looks like one of the pans Calphalon gives away to get you to purchase their higher end cookware. The item arrived nicely boxed in the Calphalon box but when I opened the box the pan looked like it had originally been a Return item before it was sent to me - The pot and lid were both in orginal packaging but the lid was clearly broken. It looked like someone had taken a hammer to it and stuck it back in the box and sent it on to me. Amazon has agreed to send a replacement at no charge but I can't believe they would have sent something like this to me to begin with without first inspecting what they send out. Unless it's being given to you as a "freebie" I suggest you save your money.
