Finally a good source for poppy seeds Apr 15, 2007

My grandma made the best poppy seed buns when I was a kid, but in the USA I was forced to buy the poppy seeds in a tiny glass jar for $4.98 and they were always stale. Finally I found some for a reasonable price and good quality to boot. Thanks to Bob's Red Mill for making it possible again to share grandma's recipe with my kids.

These absolutely blow away the supermarket seeds in tiny plastic jars. They have a more robust flavor, better texture, and have an overall fresher taste.

I ground these with the Messerschmidt grain mill attachment for my Kitchen Aid (no oiliness issue) and I couldn't be happier with the results. Our poppy seed rolls were some of the best we've ever baked. The seeds were fresh. Not bitter. And because we tend to bake "low sugar", the flavor of the seeds really ... dare I say, "popped!" Thank you for your quality product.

Bob's Red Mill Poppy Seeds are the best! They add great flavor to my bakery products. Ordering from Amazon assures me when I can expect them to arrive, and based on the amount ordered, they are the best price on the Internet. I highly recommend this product.

It is always such a hassle trying to get fresh poppy seeds for our European recipes in special days. A few stores carry them where I live, but never as fresh as the ones I got from Amazon!
The package might be a little too big if you don't bake a lot, but they freeze very well, just the way they come packed and from the freezer to use, it takes just a few minutes.
And the price at Amazon is better than ALL the local places.
