5Does a fine job  Oct 21, 2008
By Emily I. Tevault
I was pretty frightened to try this toaster, but I had one several years ago and after trying a much more expensive model that took at least 10 minutes to toast bread, I decided to try it, despite all the bad reviews. And for $40, what more do you want? The oven does indeed turn off when the bell rings and can toast frozen bread in about 5 minutes, slower than a regular toaster, but much faster than the high end countertop oven that I tried. I waited about a month to write this review, because I was expecting to see flames coming from the unit, but so far it's been fine. I've used this to reheat pork chops and steak and it has worked quite well and I really like the hooks that pull the rack out about an inch when the door is opened.

1Black and Decker, What happened to you?  Sep 25, 2009
By Karrie
We had a Black and Decker toaster oven for 10 years. I recently gave it to a friend who needed one and I got a new B&D toaster oven. Why not? The other still is in good working order, I trusted the new one to be a good product as well.

I have the same complaints as everyone else here. It burns everything no matter what you set the timer/temp to, so basically you have to stand there the entire time and watch to make sure it doesn't burn. I also have problems with the door, I can't get the door open without the entire appliance tipping over. I have to use an oven mitt to hold the appliance down while opening the door because the outside gets too hot. The appliance does not shut off when you open the door which is a feature the old toaster had.

Overall this is the worst product. Of course, I threw out the box and receipt the first day I got it because I was confident this product would be great but its not. Don't buy this product.

1Doesn't work well  Oct 06, 2007
By WB
Very slow toasting times and timer doesn't shut off during light toast setting. This was purchased after returning a Black/Decker Model No. TRO392 which overheated and started smoking(Electrical wires were burning) during first toast cycle. Two defective new units seem to indicate that B&D needs to improve their quality control. Unfortunately after having B&D Toaster Ovens for years, I now will purchase a different brand.

5Love this little toaster oven  Oct 05, 2008
By Great Cook "Great Cook"
I can see that I'm the only one here so far that has NO problem with this toaster oven.Wow
Can I be that lucky!!

I just bought this at Lowes for $29.99.
Everything toasted perfectly even, and I have to say , I was surprised it worked that good. The Bell went off with a Ding at the end of toasting, and the toaster turned off.
I gave this a trial run, and I made english muffens, Garlic bread, and those tasty round breads from Costco. Everything toasted very even.

I had this toaster years ago, and never had a problem with it either.I don't know what happened to it though!
This is actually nice looking.
Not as big as other toaster ovens.(I wanted a small one) I did like that when you open the door the rack comes out a bit.

To get the bread out, I just put a plate under the rack and take a fork and move it onto the plate, Or use tongs.
Not a big deal. Don't put your fingers inside it's HOT. Duh.

I only bought this to make garlic bread for a couple of people, so I would not have to turn my oven Broiler on.

I have a $400.00 hand made English Rowlett profesional toaster for 4 pieces of bread. It looks great, but I have to say, I think this toasted just as even!
This toaster oven does take longer to toast.

I won't leave this sitting on my counter. I don't like allot stuff like this sitting out, and I don't plan on using it very oven.
But its not bad looking..It looks like stainless.

So far I cannot complain.
If something happens with this, I will be back to review it again.

1*Just* set my toast on fire.  Dec 17, 2009
By N. Flanagan
I received this thing as a 'house warming' gift. How ironic.

My smoke alarm just went off, and thank god it did. I was making toast inside this thing, got distracted, and it didn't shut off.

The whole condo was filled with smoke and the toast was literally on fire. I have never seen toast as black as my heart until tonight, and I'm pissed.

I pray that no one has their life destroyed by one of these things.
