First of all- sorry Amazon- but $42 is out of line for this product.
I know because I bought one yesterday locally.
I am taking it back today. I haven't even used it yet, but 2 of the design features really turned me off.
That food chute thing makes the lid very bulky and cumbersome and it is not removable.
You have to insert a little piece of plastic which acts as a "dam" to prevent the food from coming out the chute.
If you do use it- the opening where the sliced/shredded food exits is very narrow and prone to clogging. It even says it right in the manual.
So, if it clogs badly, there is a little piece of plastic that you have to *unscrew* to get off so you can clean it properly.
Excuse me- unscrew?
This is plastic. How many times do you think you will be able to do this before the plastic breaks?
One should never have to unscrew anything on an appliance to be able to take it apart for cleaning.
I guess you could use a bottle brush or something to clean it without unscrewing the plastic plate, but I just want to be able to throw it in the dishwasher, not stand there at the sink fiddling with it.
This device is more trouble than it's worth. I hate the food chute and will probably never use it.
And having to unscrew a part- what were they thinking?

The first time that I turned this on, I knew I had made a bad choice. Once turned on, pulse or other, the noise it makes sounds like a train coming through the kitchen. It doesn't chop, slice, or do any other function very well either.
I have since had to cut back on the things I make just because on how horrid results give me. If you're looking to buy this, look else where.

I'm stunned at all the complaints on this unit. I've had this for several years, purchased on the recommedation of a friend. I use it to slice potatoes for scalloped potatoes all the time and it works like a dream. During canning season it runs non stop. I use it to slice mountains of onions, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and cucumbers. I use it to slice celery and to grate carrots. I use the spout to slice tomatoes before cooking down by setting the unit on an upside down dutch oven and fill a 4 gallon stock pot with tomatoes right from the chute. And I have had no problems with the chute leaking or mis-directing food. I can't imagine spending more for a food processor, when this one works as well as it does. I use it so often I have it sitting out on the counter all the time. It is a little noisey, but for as well as it works, and as inexpensive as it is, I'd say its worth dealing with a little more noise.

This food processor is a mistake. Theoretically, you place a plastic disk in the bowl to keep your food from coming out of the chute. The only problem is that once your food is chopped small enough to escape, IT DOES - all over your kitchen counter. I will never again purchase anything with a side spout.

It worked for 5 months. Did a decent job with chopping vegetables. Whoever compared this to a "speed boat" is right. This is way too noisy.
There is a tab on the side of the continuous flow chute which activates a safety switch to turn on the motor. This tab is broken. It is such an important piece in this product and this tab is just a plastic and it is now broken. Shame on black and decker. this product is now unusable.
