The Infrawave Quick Cooking Oven from Black & Decker lets you leave your traditional toaster-oven preconceptions behind. This Cooking oven uses specific wavelengths of light that are emitted from high-power light bulbs, which means you get instant heat with no preheating and faster results than traditional toaster ovens. 5Cooks everything and super fast  Aug 06, 2007
By Y. Rodriguez "Cooking is fun!"
I have had this oven for about 5 months and have used it for everything: from hot dogs, to burgers, steaks, apple pie, frozen foods and even my own recipes. We love the results! so much so that even though we renovated our kitchen and got a new stove with an oven, we use that one to store pots and pans and cook everything in the InfraWave.
We love the convert button and use it for everything. The fact that we only have to enter the type of food, time and temperature that is in the regular recipe (or the packaging instructions) and it "converts" it into its time (usually half the regular time) is super easy to use. We also toast, bake and broil even frozen meats(like burgers, hotdogs and steak) and it all comes out perfectly done: juicy on the inside and grilled and brown on the outside. You might have to play with it a bit to find the spot that you like the most (for example my husband likes meats medium/rare and I like them medium well, so I add a couple of minutes to mine)
This is the best cooking appliance I have and I can only imagine how much I will use it in the Holidays to make green bean casserole or sweet potato casserole while the turkey is in the oven! Get one now if you don't have it! You'll love it!

5Awesome product  Aug 08, 2007
By Maru "2xmom"
This is a great product, we now have barely any use for our outdoor grill or conventional oven. You can cook anything (fresh or frozen) in the Infrawave. We use it for breakfast, lunches, or dinners. The sausages come out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! Pizzas, hamburgers, even pork roast, come out great too!

2Got a couple of years use out of it but...  Sep 16, 2009
By Brutal Q
I've actually owned this for a couple of years now and it has been great for chicken nuggets for the kids, hot dogs, quick meals like that. Was never crazy about it as a toaster and never tried to cook a big meal with it (anything bigger than a hot dog anyways!)

I wanted to write this though because like some others, we woke up this morning to this thing being on and very hot. That had never happened before. Something inside it must have given up and now it does not matter if you use the power switch or not, the unit will always be on and heating at what seems to be full blast as long as it is plugged in. Unfortunately, with this being the case, you can't even control the temperature or any of the other cooking settings, its either full blast when plugged in, or nothing at all when unplugged. The controls are merely for show at this point. Obviously this is a huge fire hazard because this thing gets very very hot.

I gave two stars because it worked well for what we needed it for for the past couple of years but now its just a dangerous product to have. I got two years out of it, others seem to have gotten less time than that so please be aware before purchasing this that at some point, there is a good chance of this happening to you.

Just an fyi, I did try it on a few different outlets to make sure it wasn't the house electrical system and this is unfortunately broken on all outlets. Also, I cant seem to find this for sale or in any historical information on Black and Decker's website so it appears that they have cut ties with this unit.

3Ok, but not as fast as they claim  Dec 03, 2007
By Helene Glidden
Its a good TOASTER OVEN, sort of. I don't think its much better than the toaster ovens. It might cook a little faster for roasts but you do have to cover it with Tin foil or it will be black on top.
Casseroles cook ok but I really don't see the speed it claims to have.

1This Will Not Replace A Microwave And Is A Potential Fire Hazard!!  Dec 25, 2007
By Peter F. Ferello
I was so excited to receive this as a Christmas gift. I recently started dieting and was looking for an easy way to heat up prepared meals without firing up my full sized gas oven. According to the manual, you cannot place paper or plastic in this unit.(many prepared meals come in microwaveable or oven safe plastic dishes) You must use glass, metal or approved stoneware. A minor hassle if you're looking to pop in dinner right out of the freezer. But more importantly I noticed one evening the top of the unit was very hot. I hadn't used it for several hours, so that wasn't the cause. I found for whatever reason you must unplug the unit while not in use. When I saw another owners review about the small fire it caused, it made me wonder if I will keep this glorified toaster oven.
UPDATE 10/12/2008!!
This piece of garbage has now stopped working completely in less than a year of low-moderate use. It was of no use re heating food without being closely monitored. I am hoping to find a local repair shop to fix this and maybe get $15 at a yard sale for it. AVOID!!
Final Word 1/4/2009 Avoid "Presents for You"!!
After contacting the manufacturer I was told the unit was out of warranty.. Impossible since it was less than a year old, I thought..It seems the seller, Presents for You was selling out of warranty old stock..they were not very helpful and did nothing to help me settle the matter..The person who ordered the unit for me is working to get a refund from Amazon who has no fault in this matter..Avoid this unit and its seller Presents for You
